The majority of parish closes in Brittany date back to the 16th and 17th centuries and are very much a part of the local culture.  They are a sign of the economic prosperity of the area.

The most well known parish closes are in the Finistère :
- Saint-Thégonnec
- Guimiliau
- Pleyben
- Sizun
- Plougastel-Daoulas, etc...
